Fishing Report (Updated 1.22.2008) Trout: Red hot. Troll from the surface down to 60 feet using Sutton, Apex, and Doctor spoons. Also try drifting large minnows in the same zone. Unlike warmer weather South Carolina fish the cold snap and wintry conditions have turned the trout feed on and several 6 to 8 pounders were taken last week. Largemouth and Redeye Bass: Good. Try jigging vertically in 60 to 90 feet of water. The cold snap has turned on the really large bass and one fishmermen last week came in with a stringer of five 4-6 pound fish. Smallmouth Bass: Fair. Fishing should be improving soon for smallmouth; try live bait or vertical jigging and crawling plastics (crayfish imitations, worms) across the bottom around rocks. Smallmouth season should be arriving anytime. Crappie: No reports. Bream: No reports.
