Fishing Report (Updated 3.9.2010) Catfish: Fair. Captain Chris Simpson (864-992-2352) reports that the bite on Monticello is inconsistent right now. One day numerous fish from 20 to 30+ lbs can be caught, and the next day you can struggle to just catch a fish. Anchoring on vertical ledges from 30 to 80 feet is still producing but as the water starts to warm, catches in much shallower water should start to occur. Cut gizzard shad is the best bait for now, but as the water warms bream, crappie and white perch will become just as good.
